Charles "Charlie V." Vaughn jr. ,A native of Uptown/Hollygrove New Orleans ,was always fascinated by comics & cartoons at an early age . His parents & relatives always kept him & his younger brother busy with drawing paper and crayons. Charlie eventually developed A love for art winning art shows & doing special class projects throughout his school years.
By the early to mid 1980's, he would find another "art form" which he'd delve into....HIP HOP. It spoke to him & many kids at that time in volumes. A raw dose of street culture , improvisation & rhythm,... He took the New York influenced culture & fused it with A New Orleans "spin" to create his own hybrid of art. After graduating Delgado Community College ,he went on to design many fliers ,logo's ,backdrops ,t-shirts for local & upcoming hip hop clientele ranging from E.R.C , Cashmoney records,Black Menace ,Sillk the Shocker(No Limit),Ice Mike, to the late Souljah Slim.
Having the urge to push his imagination he worked in television WREC TV & radio & even did A hip hop EP. Artistically he earned his "stripes" at Blaine Kerns Mardi Gras World & Whaler Customs.
He would further expand his artistic boundaries by Co-founding POZAZZ productions a premiere spoken word group that would put New Orleans on the map for modern poetry.
August 2005 would change Charlie's world as well as everyone Else's as Hurricane -Katrina destroyed almost all of his artwork, library & extensive music collection. He & his mother fled to Mississippi to avoid the storm only to come back to hardly anything salvageable. Feeling down (but not out) he made his way out to Atlanta to start from scratch to start anew. Now with no shows to produce, he felt he had to bring his art back as his main passion again. Now focusing on the work & business aspect ,Charlie Vaughn jr. is poised to take all comers to his world .....UPTown ARTwerx.
